Just returned from Spokane where I assisted my father move into a retirement center. Let me tell you, the details involved in the move, the rearrangement of his effects, the taking over of his finances, etc, are truely daunting. I did get a lot of help in identifying resources from an organization called "A place for Mom" http://www.aplaceformom.com/ . I reccomend it for those of you faced with the same decisions for your parents or reletives. I spent many years as a Human Services professional, with the last 15 being in Adult and Aging services. I thought I had all the knowledge and background to deal with these kind of issues when my father began to need help. WOW, what a difference between writing policy and actually dealing with it at the street level. Too many choices and none of them without risk of failure and a million forms. I'd be glad too help anyone reading this whit the benefit (?) of my experience.

First try
Well, this is new to me. I'm pretty familiar with the computer and email, but am a virgin at blogging. While searching some family names og google, I ran accross my cousin Rachel's blog and was impressed by her willingness to communicate her thoughts and feelings for any and all to read. I guess this is the wave of the future. I don't know how often I'll be posting here, but I'll try to make it part of my routine. Best wish to those who visit here. Jim
